Chronicle

Using paper or a typewriter, your character can create documents, fliers, articles, and all sorts of different paper items. To get started, have a sheaf of papers or a typewriter in your hand or in the room, and type WRITE. WRITE This will bring up a menu where you choose a type of paper to write. Then you're prompted to give your paper a title. Lastly, you start writing. Your character's Chronicle skill influences both the quality of your character's writing and the maximum length of what your character can write in a single sitting. Please do not make ASCII art with this skill. If you'd like to include a drawing, describe it with words and put brackets [ ] around it. For example: [A simple doodle of a daisy is in the left margin of the above paragraph.] For more detailed artistic expression, you'll want to make artwork. See HELP ARTWORK for more information. Once your paper is finalized, you can LOOK at it or READ it. Both words do the same thing. LOOK PAPER READ PAPER To read a specific page, type LOOK (paper) PAGE (number). Including the word PAGE is optional. LOOK PAPER PAGE 3 LOOK PAPER 3 Paper is limited. To add more paper to a typewriter, have a sheaf in your hands and type INSTALL SHEAF IN TYPEWRITER. INSTALL SHEAF IN TYPEWRITER You can LOOK at a typewriter or sheaf to see how many sheets of paper it has remaining. If you want to slip a paper under a door, you can type SLIP (paper) (direction). For example, to slip a paper under a door to the north, type: SLIP PAPER NORTH Sometimes, you may have two papers taking up space that you'd like to consolidate into one paper. To do so, type COMBINE (paper) WITH (paper). For example, to combine a report with a statement, type: COMBINE REPORT WITH STATEMENT Make sure the first paper has the title you want for the final collection (or write a new paper and give it that title) and type COMBINE (paper) WITH (paper). Collections can't be combined with other collections, so be sure you're satisfied with the name of your first paper before turning it into a collection. Otherwise, you'll need to rewrite it from scratch. You can't add more pages once a collection grows larger than 35 pages. Write whatever's on your character's mind! Compose a letter to a friend or rival, leak an enemy's secrets anonymously, or even write a manifesto to be discovered after your character is long gone.
