Customize

Customizing an item allows you to give the item a custom name and description. Not only does this add flavor and memorability to the item, but if your character's Appearance skill is high enough, your design will inspire confidence in its user, granting a bonus to the effectiveness of the item. To start customizing, first have both a kitbag and the item you want to customize in your character's inventory. Then type CUSTOMIZE (item). For example, to customize a bench, type: CUSTOMIZE BENCH This will open the customization menu. Here, you'll be able to give this item a custom name and a custom description. The custom description will be below the regular description. This means that any customization is a modification of the original item, whether it be decorative, engravement, labeling, or reshaping. Use of color in descriptions is allowed and encouraged. There's an option in the main customization menu to view color codes. There are 206 color codes in total, so the full list will be a little spammy. To review your customization and to see how it'll appear, choose the "Review" option from the menu. This will show you everything you've typed, with color codes translated into actual colors, and it'll allow you to make sure everything is as you want it before finalizing it. If the review says everything is "OK!" then you can proceed to finalize your customization by typing YES. After finalizing, no more editing is possible. The quality of a customization depends on your character's Appearance skill and whether or not your custom description is at least half as long as its maximum length.
