Repair

Repair is the skill of appraising and fixing a vast array of items, from machines to textiles. To appraise an item, type LOOK (item). For example, to look at a bench, type: LOOK BENCH The last paragraph of an item description indicates its condition. By reaching certain levels of Repair skill, your character gains better assessment of the quality and durability of an item. If there's no paragraph with this information, that indicates that it's an item that can't be fixed. For instance, consumable items can't be repaired. To repair an item, your character needs to be in a room with a repair shop, or have a portable repair shop in their inventory. Then type REPAIR (item). For example, to repair a bench, type: REPAIR BENCH It takes a few minutes to repair items. Feel free to RP during this time. An alternative to repairing items is to recycle them. To do so, be in the presence of a recycling machine and type RECYCLE (item). For example, to recycle a bench, type: RECYCLE BENCH Higher Repair skill means your character is more adept at sorting out valuable materials from useless scrap, increasing the payout at recycling machines. If you enjoy buying, selling, and trading items with other characters, Repair is a vital skill. UNINSTALLING ITEMS With significantly high enough Repair skill, your character can uninstall items, once per day. Items that are in disrepair are easier to uninstall. For artwork, every 3 weeks that it's installed, it'll become slightly easier to uninstall. To attempt to uninstall an item in a room, type UNINSTALL (name). For example, to uninstall art, type: UNINSTALL ART If there are multiple pieces of art installed, you can specify the art by its name instead of ART.
