Consent

In Silent Heaven, we want to make sure that you, the player, feel safe at all times. This is a step beyond just being comfortable to play the game. This is a safe space free of hassle, harassment, negativity, judgment, and general unfriendly behavior from other players, both in and out of the game. While playing Silent Heaven, no one should have to worry about real life situations, drama, or intimidating or obnoxious behavior. This is a space where you're taking a break from life to enjoy the thrill of being in a spooky, dangerous town. You control the level of consent that works best for you. To assist you, we've developed a consent checklist, where you can set your own comfort levels. To pull up the consent checklist, type CHECK. CHECK Here, you'll be given three choices: your consent checklist, the blanket consent list, and the forbidden list. Your consent checklist lets you view and edit the optional content you want to experience in the game. This includes things related to general horror, relationships, physical pain, psychological pain, and environmental effects. You can set items to one of four levels: GREEN: Enthusiastic consent! Bring it on! YELLOW: This is perfectly fine if it's done offscreen / veiled / with a fade-to-black. I may or may not be happy with it done onscreen, so ask politely in OOC ahead of time before introducing it to my RP. ORANGE: This is only fine if it's done offscreen / veiled / with a fade-to-black. Always ask politely in OOC ahead of time. Do not include it in my RP otherwise. RED: Hard no! Do not include or reference this at all. Everything defaults to RED, so by default, you will not be exposed to optional content. You must also respect others' lists. Many of these are only things that Storytellers can conjure up, though some are player-accessible. If you're interested in including one of these optional pieces of content in your RP with someone else, you must first check their checklist. To do so, type CHECK (name). For example, if you want to see if Jack would be comfortable with your character flirting with them, you can type: CHECK Jack Before being allowed to check someone's consent list, you need to RP with that character for a significant amount of time (about 4 - 6 scenes' worth). This is because you should give new characters some time before introducing these themes to them. Storytellers are allowed to check at any time, but only for purposes of running storylines. UNCUSTOMIZABLE CONTENT The last two options on the CHECK menu are the blanket consent list and the forbidden list. The blanket consent list covers 5 types of content that you are likely to experience during your time in Silent Heaven. If you're uncomfortable with anything on the blanket consent list, then Silent Heaven likely isn't going to be a game you'll be comfortable playing. Lastly, the forbidden list covers all content that is forbidden in roleplay, both on-screen and veiled / faded-to-black. We have zero tolerance for violations of the forbidden list. A violation will result in a permanent ban. Overall, as a player in Silent Heaven: - You decide what’s safe for you. - The default answer is "no." - It doesn’t matter why consent wasn’t given. - Nobody has to explain why they’re not consenting. - There may not be a reason why they’re not consenting. - There’s a spectrum of consent for each topic. - It’s not up for debate. - Anyone may change their mind about what they are or aren’t consenting to at any time. - Anyone may leave an uncomfortable situation at any time. Thank you for respecting your fellow players! Category: HELP 3 (Character) < Previous - Overview | Next - Assistance >
