Continuity
CONTINUITY
Maintaining storyline continuity is important to a cohesive environment.
It's important to distinguish between what you know and what your character knows. It's possible to accidentally use knowledge or secrets that you know, but your character doesn't. If this happens, notify the other players in local OOC that you made a mistake and to back up without this knowledge. It's common courtesy to rewrite your pose to fix the error.
It's possible that a game error or Storyteller mistake reveals information. Just like the above, staff will notify you to ignore and not use the information revealed.
For example, a code error causes an NPC to reveal the existence of a secret location. You are told by staff that this was in error and to ignore the knowledge. It is not okay to ask around or drop hints about this location. You should proceed as if you and your character never received this information.
On occasion, a Storyteller may make a mistake and have an NPC make an incorrect decision based on a misunderstanding or faulty information. If you feel a Storyteller made an error, you are welcome to contact staff over the GM channel to discuss. Some NPCs normally act erratically, so it's good to check if you have concerns. If it's agreed that the Storyteller misread the situation, play will continue without any retcon, but the Storyteller will find a way to make things better – or at the very least, somewhat equivalent, depending on the severity of the situation.
