Finding

FINDING ROLEPLAY There are two main ways to find roleplay: exploring and using the wind. Exploring is simply a matter of wandering around town, finding other characters, and striking up a conversation. The wind is more direct. Think of it like the whispers from the TV show LOST. When you whisper in the town of Silent Heaven, your whispers are carried along the air currents in the town, such that anyone can hear them. This makes it hard to keep a secret in Silent Heaven, but also allows for in-character communication from afar. There are a number of different types of whispers, but an important one for finding RP is an "echo." An echo is a repeated message that travels along the wind as long as your character is awake, not idling, and in a place where there is wind. You can type WHO to listen to the echoes in the wind. You'll get a list of everyone's echo messages, plus an approximate count of the number of characters who haven't set an echo message. Note that NPCs' echo messages may be active, regardless of whether a Storyteller is puppeting them. Try to make your RP 80% with other PCs and 20% with NPCs. That is, focus your stories around other PCs, but you're welcome to include NPCs. NPCs typically exist to provide support, balance, and services to the town. They all have their own lives with their own histories, so consider why they're permanent residents of the town before getting close to them. NPCs may fluctuate in their involvement based on Storyteller availability. OFFSITE ROLEPLAY While it's okay to discuss OOCly where other characters would like to go with their storylines, it's not okay to RP these events offsite. Additionally, do not agree offsite that they happened. When you want something to happen, do it in-game. Basically, if an RP didn't happen in-game, it isn't canon.
