Relationships
RELATIONSHIP PLAY AND SEXUAL CONTENT
As characters interact, they may develop feelings for each other and enter into romantic or sexual relationships. However, this is not at all required, and nobody should be expected to do relationship play.
If someone tells you in OOC that they do not wish to participate in relationship play with your character, you are to cease pursuing that play immediately, indefinitely, and respectfully.
Do not use OOC to stigmatize or tease someone about their relationship choices.
Do not attempt to engage in relationship play with a character your character has roleplayed with for less than two weeks. New characters need some time and space learning the town before the possibility of relationship play.
There is no expectation of sexual content when engaging in a relationship. All parties who would be involved in sexual situations must give enthusiastic consent both OOCly and ICly before and during sexual situations.
A player may OOCly request that sexual situations be skipped via "fade to black" or FTB. The other parties involved must respect this. You're welcome to come to an agreement on what "happened" during the skipped sexual content and where to pick up the scene afterward, if everyone is comfortable with doing so.
Please be aware that other characters can listen through walls, watch through windows, or otherwise eavesdrop on locations in Silent Heaven. By engaging in sexual situations, you understand and accept that there is no IC guarantee of privacy.
Staff will not monitor sexual situations.
Aside from eavesdropping, all non-consensual sexual acts are forbidden in Silent Heaven.
During sexual situations, no combat, violence, or plotting may occur. Keep it to character development only. Once the sexual situation has ended, you may continue with your combat, violence, and plotting.
Do not seek retribution or harass others either IC or OOC for declined sexual or romantic advances that your character has made. Do not make additional advances on a character who has declined, unless that character explicitly tells your character that they've changed their mind about the matter. Do not lie IC or OOC about any character's sexual activity.
Don't create or spread sexual rumors. Things like love notes or dating drama is fine. But when it veers into using sexual activities (or lack thereof) as a plot hook, that's where the line is drawn.
Please keep most sexual content to private locations. There may be some public locations where risque entertainment is often acceptable. Outside of those locations, please keep sexual content to a minimum.
Please contact staff immediately if someone is violating these rules. Even if you're just concerned about something being a "gray area," we want to know. We take your comfort and safety seriously.
